VCF Academy in Greece collaborates with post-earthquake reconstruction in Samos
One week ago, an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre in the Aegean Sea, hit Turkey and Greece, especially affecting the island of Samos -where several hundred people were left without homes and two young people lost their lives. The earthquake was also accompanied by a tsunami that aggravated material damage.

VCF Academy has a VCF Soccer School on Samos that for talents from Greece and Southeast Europe. The facilities used by the school, where young talents learn the Valencia CF methodology, were not affected by the earthquake, and thus the artificial pitch was immediately available to the authorities to set up tents. These provided shelter for families who cannot yet return to their homes, while evaluations are made on buildings and aftershocks continue to occur.

During this time, the activity at the VCF Soccer School has been put on hold, due to the earthquake situation and also the lockdown decreed in Greece this week due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

It is hoped that activity will be resumed in mid-December. Meanwhile, the 70 boys and girls registered at the VCF Soccer School in Samos will also learn the values of solidarity and the importance of helping and collaborating in moments of difficulty.
